Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices by Paul Fleischman. This slim volume of poems about the insect world is wonderful! It is written to be read by two voices - sometimes alternating, sometimes simultaneous. When first reviewing it, I had my husband sit down with me to read it aloud to our two children. It was so much fun to read along with another person, especially my husband (we'd never done anything like it before). Then I read some poems with my son, a beginning reader. What a thrill! (I suppose we were also doing what's called "choral reading.")

It's a fun way to read and a good introduction to poems (and to learn about bugs too). Winner of the 1989 Newbery Medal.

Paper, 44 pages.
